Kerswell Farmhouse is a new venture for Graham and Nichola Hawkins. Their aim is offer a unique, luxurious boutique bed and breakfast experience in their 400-year-old Devon longhouse which is set in the idyllic landscape of the South Hams.
Graham spent his professional life in education but after 17 years in the Middle East, leading a large international school, he has returned to Devon to run the Kerswell Farmhouse office. Graham is putting his academic background in history to good use by offering personally guided tours with topics as diverse as tin mining on Dartmoor and Agatha Christie’s Devon. He has also found time to enjoy his hobbies of collecting modern British art and enjoying fine wine by establishing a small art gallery at Kerswell and building a splendid cellar for dinner guests.
Nichola brings to the venture a passion for design and fine cooking. After a career in interior design she set up a company restoring old farmhouses and cottages as well as providing a design service to hotels and bed and breakfast establishments. Her love of cooking has been life-long and she has a particular interest in producing dishes based on locally available produce.
